PM: It is Not Virtuous to Want to Win an Election While Forgetting Your Parents

PHNOM PENH: Prime Minister Hun Sen recalled the memory of his parents and shared that his family will be commemorating the anniversary of his parents' passing on 12 July 2023, in the direct run-up to the general election in Cambodia.

The Prime Minister said that this year marks the 25th anniversary of his mother's passing, as well as the 10th anniversary of his father's passing.

"The election is just one thing, the merits of our parents are unforgettable," said the Prime Minister. "Wanting to win the election and forgetting about your parents is not a good thing, nor does it reflect good human virtue and morality."

The Prime Minister made this statement during the inauguration ceremony of new religious achievements at Preah Baramey Vongkot Borey pagoda in Toul Kouk, Phnom Penh, on Monday morning, 24 April 2023.

The 2023 General Election in Cambodia will be held on 23 July.
